Dracula Blogged

I've long felt that blogging is to our time what diaries were to ages past -- a daily record of informal life, stored against the erosion of time. Through these reminiscences we can look into the hearts and minds of the past and the present. Because the point of view is necessarily restricted, you get a more intimate picture of the events surrounding the diarist. Mind you, not necessarily an accurate view -- but more interesting for it, I believe.

Related to the journal or diary is a literary form known as the epistolary novel, where the story is built of diary entries, letters, even newspaper articles. The story unfolds indirectly, the reader deductively filling in the gaps. Bridget Jones's Diary is a recent successful example of the form.

Bram Stoker's Dracula is such a novel ... and is now re-invented as Dracula Blogged. I'm looking forward to reading the installments as they are posted on the dates equivalent to those in the novel. If you've never read Dracula, or if it's been a while, this is an excellent way to experience it!
