Taxing Activities

death and taxesThank $deity for an extended tax weekend, as that gave me enough time to actually get my taxes done in time. I've got a small refund coming from Michigan and sent far too much money to the Feds (the price of having borrowed against my retirement account years ago and now being unable to make the payments). Ghaaa. At least it's done and in and all.

Things continue to be grim on the employment front. None of the interviews translated into jobs, and none of the applications filed since have yielded interviews. Hell, most of them were marked "unqualified determined by HR", which baffles me, as they were trained-monkey secretarial jobs. Unfortunately there's no appeal - if HR won't send in the app, you're out of luck.

I was fairly sick most of last week with the cold-du-jour, which put a damper on other job-seeking activities. I was coughing wetly and had a voice only a frog could love. "Hi, I'm infectious, hire me" doesn't sell well, so I slept and consumed chicken soup and lots of water. I feel better now. If only I could get my blood sugar back under control I'd file myself under relatively healthy.

I am going to reward myself for being a good citizen by playing City of Heroes tonight. CoH has an insidiously addictive appeal, and I've been restricting myself till taxes were done. Whee!
